StreamNet is a technology that NetStreams developed to allow integrators to provide complete IP-based A/V distribution solutions over TCP/IP networks. The company recently obtained a United States Patent for streaming synchronized time-sensitive audio and video over Local Area Networks.
Why is this technology beneficial? According to Michael Braithwaite, Senior Vice President of Technology for Clear One (Clear One recently acquired NetStreams), “A fundamental problem with using TCP/IP to distribute digital audio to multiple zones is the synchronization of this time sensitive data. Without this synchronization, audio can cut out, crackle and echo. StreamNet technology provides a solution by removing the effect of network delays.”
StreamNet removes delays because each StreamNet product on the network has its own network intelligence. There is no need for centralized matrix switches, controllers and supporting infrastructure. This technology scales as large as your network can get, and it puts no restraints on the amount of audio playback zones or video displays.
