Savant to Open Celebrity Designed Showroom Center

August 24, 2009 By David Dritsas

Vendor showrooms continue to gain popularity. The latest company to open a showroom in a major city is Savant Systems, the A/V control technology company that has been gaining steam in the CE industry. The company announced today that it will open a 7,500-square-foot showcase design center in New York City’s SoHo district.

The center will be comprised of two apartments, both fully automated spaces. Each carries a different focus—one for commercial applications and the other, residential. Savant dealers will have access to the center in order to take clients through and demonstrate the company's ROSIE control system's and how they fit into real-world applications. Additionally, the company says, " The showroom will also enable Savant to host AIA events (American Institute of Architects) and other architectural and design-focused events."

The resident space have a master bedroom and bathroom, music/piano area and media room, as well as a 800-square-foot dedicated home theater crafted by the well-know theater designer, Theo Kalomirakis. There will also be a fully functional kitchen, outfitted by Dalia Kitchen Design.

Craig Spinner, director of marketing for Savant, says the center will open in two stages—the residential portion in October of this year and the commercial portion in the first quarter of 2010. To design the space, Savant contracted celebrity designer Thom Felicia, the host of Dress My Nest on the Style Network and was once a member of the wildly successful Fab Five on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
